Strings at Your Wedding

Your wedding is all about you. Both of you. It is a chance to show your own style, who you both are as well as to celebrate the beginning of your journey together. You may want a wedding that is casual or more formal, relaxed, fun, a party or something traditional.

A big part of establishing the style of your wedding is through music and just as a movie soundtrack heightens the feeling of the story, your wedding will also gain an extra level of atmosphere with elegant classical and contemporary music.

This is the style of wedding that definitely stands out, with live music providing the soundtrack to a day you will always remember. Imagine the garden wedding in the vineyards with your guests spectacularly dressed, champagne in hand and the classical sound of violins, a cello, a viola and piano. Your friends in small groups, in conversation with smiles and soft laughter, enjoying the wonderful atmosphere that you have created in this wonderful vineyard setting.

There is a feeling of anticipation as the music steps up a notch enhancing the feeling that something special is about to begin. The bride has arrived, and guests are asked to take their seats. In the chapel too, music fills the room and the unmistakable tune of The Brides Chorus begins. This is your day, you smile as you begin walking toward your husband-to-be with strings warming the hearts of your guests while the soft, lyrical timbre of the flute reflects the spirit of joy and lightness.

16 Strings

On the most romantic day of the couple’s lives, music can provide the right setting for the ceremony and the reception at your Hunter Valley wedding. The right music, at the right time, can make all the difference to the style of your marriage ceremony, and will ensure that your guests remember the service for a long time.

More than just being in the background, your wedding music is a signal to the guests, to the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and even to the bride or groom themselves, that something special is about to happen. During the ceremony, different music should be played at different times in order to create distinct events; the seating of the guests, the procession of the bridesmaids and the entrance of the bride.

The Wedding Ceremony

According to 16 Strings String Quartet, the music which you select for the ceremony is likely to be more traditional than that chosen for a reception or meal afterwards. Couples may choose to have a string quartet in the church to play classical music, rather than rely upon an organist. The music here needs to be traditional in order to re-create memories of other weddings, to remind the guests why they are there, and to set out the idea of romance. Having professional musicians also allows the couple to take longer over the signing of the register, where there may be photography or filming of the occasion, while recorded music might cut out, shutting off the romantic atmosphere.

A string quartet playing whilst your guests arrive at the wedding ceremony venue creates an angelic atmosphere providing the immediate feeling of anticipation, whether it be the elegant classical music or more contemporary pieces.

The string quartet will normally play three songs during the ceremony. These are; the Processional on walking in, the Signing of the Register and Recessional upon exit.

Pre-Reception Entertainment

This is the opportunity to create the perfect transition music between the ceremony and the reception. It may be a chance to spend time with your guests once the ceremony is complete or entertaining your guests whilst canapés and drinks are being served, a 16 Strings String Quartet can create the perfect light entertainment. And what they play is up to you and what you think is perfect for your Hunter Valley wedding, whether it be classical, pop or funky jazz.

Reception

The bride and groom should also consider live music such as a string quartet for their reception. This is a slightly different atmosphere from the one in the church, and so less traditional music can be played. The couple may like select pop songs in order to create a romantic, but still fun and lively, atmosphere at their reception. The music here will trigger different emotional responses than in the ceremony itself, but these emotions can still be romantic and loving.

As the guests arrive they can be serenaded by the strings as well as music that provides the perfect accompaniment played during dinner. You may wish to continue the traditional classical sound or something more upbeat with jazz or pop.

If required, 16 Strings can play for these special moments;

  • Bridal Party Entrance
  • Dinner Music
  • Cutting Of The Cake
  • Bridal Dance
  • Bride & Groom Goodbye/exit song

Whatever your style is, it is wise to contemplate the use of strings throughout your special day and 16 Strings, d’Amore Ensembles, and Two Play Strings are a great place to discuss your options and to help you plan the music for your wedding day.
