Hunter Valley Wine, Food & Film Festival

Hunter Valley Wine, Food and Film Festival

The Hunter Valley Wine, Food and Film Festival is a celebration of Australian film matched with the Hunter Valley’s Best Wines and Food. Over 11 nights, 11 Australian films will be screened in the vineyards of the Around Hermitage Wine and Food Trail, Pokolbin, Hunter Valley.

It is 50 years since the revival of both the Australian Wine and the Australian Film Industries and the start of the Australian Food Revolution.

1966 heralded a renaissance in Australian wine, Lakes Folly, Australia’s first boutique winery had its first vintage. 50 years on and gone are the days of Chateau Chunder from Down Under, Australia and most importantly the Hunter Valley is now producing some of the world’s best wines.

1966 Australia’s first Wine & Food magazines, Epicurean and Australian Gourmet, were launched. Australian food moved on from just meat pies. Largely influenced by immigration from Europe in the 60’s and 70’s and more recently from Asia, Australian food is taking its rightful place on the world culinary stage.

1966 saw the revival of the Australian Film Industry with the making of classic films like They’re a Weird Mob and sparked the production of world renowned films.
