MDV Artisan Coffee is 100% family owned by the Datta family. It was launched March 2013 with the the MDV Black Label blend.
Founder/Creator, Michael Datta does not have a background in making coffee, however, it was in making wine. Michael is the Founder/Winemaker of MDV Handcrafted Wines. Michael started his full-time launch into wine in 2000, making and selling award winning, highly regarded wines from the Barossa and Eden Valley’s – South Australia . See www.mdvbarossa.com.
Michael’s growing interest for coffee became very strong over the years and his passion to hunt down great espressos’ became a daily focus. His wonderful wife Jane may call this focus, “obsessive”, but to Michael it was passion.
So, with his little boy Jack by his side, they would visit different cafés each weekend. Jack was born in 2007, so one could say that Michael’s “focus” finding the perfect espresso began then. Jack is following his father’s footsteps looking for the best “Baby Chino” around (especially the marshmallow in the saucer).
Michael’s friends know him to be a very passionate, driven and emphatic about producing quality wines, which is now coming through in his coffee.
